Autism, Learning Disabilities
Elaine Hall (“Coach E”) is Founder and Creative Director of The Miracle Project. When traditional therapies did not help her son Neal, who was diagnosed with autism at age three, she sought out creative people—actors, writers, musicians, and teachers—to work with him. She developed new methods to reach kids with autism, which resulted in The Miracle Project. These methods were profiled in the two‐time Emmy Award-winning HBO documentary, Autism: The Musical (2007). Elaine and her methods have received honors from numerous groups including Autism Speaks, Autism Society of America, and she was recently an ambassador to the U.N. for International Autism Awareness Day. She is a keynote speaker at autism conferences throughout North America. She has been the subject of feature articles in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times, and has appeared on CNN, The Morning Show, NPR, and Oprah Radio. She recently co-produced (with Diane Isaacs) a DVD for clinicians entitled “Unlocking the World of Autism,” and her memoir, Now I Can See the Moon, will be published by HarperStudio in May 2010.
